The session offers guidance and understanding to help you navigate your thoughts and feelings in these difficult early moments of grief.

Losing a loved one often brings distress with intense, overwhelming thoughts and feelings and often a sense that we are not coping.

We offer a short presentation about grief and how it may manifest within you and your daily living, along with some guidance on how to care for yourself.

It is a safe space where you may also feel able to share your experiences with others who are on a similar journey.

Sessions are offered bi-monthly at Priscilla Bacon Lodge. It is free to attend and you do not need to have had previous contact with the hospice.

We are thrilled to collaborate with colleagues across Norfolk and Waveney on the Zest programme, which brings together children’s and adult services to create a pathway for smoother transitions into adult care.

Monthly drop-in sessions are taking place at either Priscilla Bacon Lodge, Tapping House, or the Louise Hamilton Centre, designed to give young people and their families a chance to meet those who may be involved in their care as they transition from East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) to adult services. EACH staff will be there to offer support throughout.

During these sessions, you can connect with other families, join in some fun activities, and enjoy a chat over a cuppa. This pilot programme will run for 12-18 months, and we hope to expand transition support services based on the feedback we receive.

The sessions also give young people and their families an opportunity to help shape future services. There will be multiple ways for you to share your thoughts on how we can best support your journey.

Please note, these are self-care sessions, meaning that each family is responsible for their young person.

We look forward to welcoming you and working together on this transition journey!

One of Norwich’s great treasures, the Plantation Garden is a 3 acre Grade II English Heritage registered garden established over 100 years ago in an abandoned chalk quarry, 600 yards from the city centre. Also referred to by locals as Norwich’s Secret Garden, it’s tucked away beside the Roman Catholic Cathedral on Earlham Road. It’s an oasis of calm in Norwich city centre.

Find a huge gothic fountain, flower beds, lawns, Italianate terrace, ‘Medieval’ terrace wall, woodland walkways, 10 metre long Victorian-style greenhouse and rustic bridge. The garden is heavily wooded and provides a habitat for wildlife, making it a haven of peace and tranquillity and a glimpse into a bygone age.

30/60 Mile Route

A beautiful 30 or 60 mile ride in Norfolk’s lovely countryside. Starting from The Forum and taking in the edge of the Broads, touching the coast on the 60, while the 30 mile loops inland taking in a stretch alongside the Bure Valley Railway, before reaching bucolic Ranworth, and then a triumphant return to food, drink and a medal at the Finish – Lower School by the Cathedral. Click here to read more.

100 Mile Route

A classic, (and very beautiful), 100 mile ride around Norfolk. Starting from The Forum and taking in the edge of the Broads, Horsey Mill, the coast, (and some hills!), all the way to Cley, and Blakeney, then a new route through Holt to Blickling Hall before food, drink and a medal back at the Finish – Lower School by the Cathedral. Click here to read more.

Quotes from previous riders

“I was so impressed by every aspect of this event and just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of those involved – the marshals, the motorcyclists, the starters, the welcome committee at the finish, the local venues for refreshments and all of the countless and unseen volunteers that put this event together and made it such a magnificent day.” S.N.

“I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the Norwich bike ride. The route was well planned out and signposted, refreshments were plentiful and all volunteers incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank you very much for organising such a wonderful event, I will be sure to sign up for next year’s!” E.B.

“Thank you for a fantastically well organised event last weekend. This is the first sportive I’ve taken part in since lockdown in March and I think you and the team did an excellent job. I look forward to riding with you at one of your future events.” Mark L.

We are delighted to have been chosen to benefit from funds raised with the sale of refreshments on the green next to 1 Woodside Cottages at this NGS open gardens event. We will be there selling teas, coffees and a selection of delicious homemade cakes.

Entry to the gardens costs £7.00 for adults and children are free.

1 Woodside Cottages is a small white painted Victorian cottage and its garden is packed with colourful cottage garden plants which grow side by side with fruit and vegetables. A pond fits neatly into the design and supports many frogs each spring. Even the resident chickens are decorative!

18 Conesford Drive This garden lies behind a 1960s architect designed modernist house and is an oasis of calm and tranquility. A pool with white water lilies, herbaceous plants, climbers, shrubs and trees have been chosen to give the space a Japanese feel.

8:00pm The hot coals are lit, ready to heat up for your walk.
8:30pm Take part in the “Empowerment Talk” ready to face the walk.
9:30pm Time to brave the coals and walk the fire!

Spectators are welcome.

You must be aged 18 or over to take part in the firewalk.

£15 registration fee and a pledge to raise a minimum sponsorship of £100.
Or:

£115 to walk without raising sponsorship.

Imagine how you will feel after Firewalking – if you can walk on fire, what else can you achieve if you put your mind to it?

Benefits of taking part in a firewalk
At first, the idea of walking through fire might seem daunting. However, the positive results experienced by our participants are living proof of the amazing effects of this experience.

1. Firewalks shatter comfort zones.
We’re all living inside tiny bubbles of comfort that prevent us from experiencing all life has to offer. Firewalks have the ability to improve our willingness to expand those boundaries.

2. They establish strong connections.
Going through challenging experiences has the power to build bridges between people, making firewalks the perfect solution for team building within charities.

3. Firewalks build character.
There’s something that sticks with participants after a firewalk. They walk taller, stand firmer, and talk more confidently. This undeniable change is the result of the strong character formation that happens in such a short period of time during these events.

4. They shift perspectives.
Nobody goes into a firewalk completely confident of their ability to walk through the flames. By the end, however, everybody is instilled with the knowledge that they’re capable of so much more. This shift in perspective is transferrable to other endeavours within your charity which leads to greater performance and achievement overall.

Incentive
As an incentive, each year our event hosts, Charity Firewalk, offer an award to the individual that raises the most money for the Charity. Just send us your details after your walk and let us know how much you raised, and we will let them know.

“We had a fantastic time completing the 5K inflatable run, and even better, it supported the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity! The numerous obstacle courses made it feel like we weren’t running 5 kilometres. After our team regrouped at the finish line, we agreed that we would have to do this again next year!”

Shane Julian, 2024 participant

“We all had a blast, thank you to all who organised the event!”
